It’s time to get ready for the holiday season! BlackNLA is kicking off its 11th Annual Holiday Toy Drive for underprivileged and at-risk youth all over Los Angeles Metro area.

holiday1The latest data show that 37 million Americans are living in poverty. As a matter of fact, a greater portion of families and children live in poverty in America today than three decades ago. We need your help in making the holidays brighter for some of these.

We want YOU to help us put a smile on the faces of hundreds of children with our Holiday Toy Drive. The Toy Drive launching Monday, November 10th, will be our 11th year to reaching out to underprivileged and at-risk youth in underserved communities in the LA Metro area.

Last holiday season, “BlackNLA” members, website visitors and corporate contributors teamed up to provide toys, books, games, clothing, toiletries, electronics, CDs, videos, cosmetics and other suitable gifts to more than 500 children in the LA area.

This is a grassroots community program designed to provide gifts for impoverished children and teenagers up to age 17 in the LA area. It’s now time to reach out to every Member.

To maximize the reach of potential donations, BlackNLA.com is seeking participation of businesses and individuals of companies to organize their staff, fellow co-workers, friends, clients and others in the surrounding areas. Those businesses participating, as drop-off locations will be listed on our toy drive page and included in e-mails to be distributed to over 32,000 Los Angeles area companies and professionals. Those providing other support will be listed as supporters.

Who should contact us?

Volunteers: Do you have a flexible schedule? We are looking for people to assist us in organizing drop off locations, toy donations, holiday events and dropping off /picking-up the boxes for the Toy Drive.

Company Participation: Do you work at a company with twenty-five or more employees? Most companies want to participate in a toy drive but don’t know where to start. Talk to your company office manager or owner about placing a box in your lobby or lunchroom. We provide the box, signs and will arrange for the pick-up and distribution of the toys. This is an easy way for your company to get involved and give back to those less fortunate during the holiday season.

Alumni/Association Participation: Do you belong to an Alumni or school-based Association that would like to participate in helping to gather toys for the Toy Drive? Serve as a liaison between BlackNLA and your alumni, association or other group with which you’re involved. Perhaps you could collect toys at a monthly meeting or pool resources to make a monetary donation on behalf of your alumni association. Contact us and together we’ll come up with a plan that suits your group.

holiday3Drop-Off Locations: Do you work at a location that is open to the public or gets regular traffic from the outside public? Then your company would make a great drop-off location for those looking to donate toys. In the past we have had cleaners, banks, cellular stores, beauty salons, law offices and others act as drop-off locations.

As a participant, your company would be listed in our drop-off location section so that those who live and/or work in the area are able to drop off toys. We provide the box and signs, as well as arrange for the pick-up and distribution of the toys. This is a great way to get exposure for your company and let BlackNLA members know where you are located. http://blacknla.com/ToyDrive

Product Donations: Does your company manufacturer clothing or goods that can be donated to these organizations? These organizations are providing shelter and services year round and have a great need for other tangible goods, such as clothing, housing supplies, school supplies and more.

Public/Private Events: Do you currently host events or are you planning a holiday party? By encouraging your audience to bring a new unwrapped toy, you too can support the Toy Drive. This is a great way to get people involved and public events will be included in our listing of events that are participating in the Toy Drive.

Unused Gift Cards: Do you have gift cards collecting dust at the bottom of your drawers? Do you know that many stores that don’t traditionally sell toys do so during the holiday season? Bed Bath and Beyond, Macys as an example and many more.

Cash Gift: If you don’t have the time to go shopping for a gift, BlackNLA will go shopping for you. Feel free to send a check to BlackNLA.com, 8391 Beverly Blvd, #433, Los Angeles, CA 90048 (put Toy Dive in the notes section). Visit BlackNLA.com/Toydrive to make a credit card gift.
