Community Recreation Manager

JOB SUMMARY:Plans, organizes, manages, and leads all activities within the Community Recreation Division. Directs the development of innovative recreational programs, partnerships and events for the community. Develops policy recommendations, communication and marketing plans, funding mechanisms and approaches to service delivery which make best use of City resources.

Oversees the delivery of programs for youth and adults at multiple sites in the community including ongoing programs, community classes, facility and field booking and community event management.   
 
Selects, trains, supervises, and evaluates division staff. Implements staff development and training activities. Develops and ensures the implementation of effective customer service standards.

Formulates partnerships and leverages resources with other government entities, non-profit organizations, the business community, contract instructors and other providers of recreation services to facilitate delivery of community responsive and innovative recreation programs, classes and activities.
 
Ensures continuous improvement and innovation of recreation services and programs by examining best practices, soliciting feedback from staff, collecting data from customers and the community, and reviewing market trends. Recommends changes to existing organizational structure, programs and services to ensure the needs of the community are met.

Develops policy recommendations and oversees formulation and administration of procedures for use of community venues for public and private events and activities. 
 
Plans, administers and oversees an effective marketing, outreach and communication about community recreation programs, facilities and events. Promotes activities and programs to the community.
 
Develops, oversees and monitors the division operating and capital budgets, projects, and monitors revenues. 
 
Prepares grant applications and reports; ensures compliance and proper management of grant funds.
 
Prepares and/or edits a variety of reports for submission to the City Council and various commissions and committees.
 
Provides staff support and makes presentations to City Council, Boards and Commissions, management staff, the public, non-profit agencies and various community groups on division related topics.

Establishes and fosters relationships with community groups, non-profit organizations and other professional organizations. Responds to and resolves citizen complaints directly and through subordinate staff.
