Essential Job Duties/Scope of Work:
International Medical Corps is a global, humanitarian, nonprofit organization dedicated to saving lives and relieving suffering through health care training and relief and development programs.Established in 1984 by volunteer doctors and nurses, International Medical Corps is a private, voluntary, nonpolitical, nonsectarian organization. Its mission is to improve the quality of life through
health interventions and related activities that build local capacity in underserved communities worldwide. By offering training and health care to local populations and medical assistance to people at highest risk, and with the flexibility to respond rapidly to emergency situations, International Medical Corps rehabilitates devastated health care systems and helps bring them back to self-reliance.

The Communications Department works to increase International Medical Corps’ visibility and raise awareness of the humanitarian issues International Medical Corps addresses. The unit is responsible for International Medical Corps’ website, media relations, internal and external publications and other public awareness initiatives. The Communications Associate will contribute to these efforts by serving in an assistant capacity in support of the department as needed.


• Participate in the design and production of International Medical Corps publications, including brochures, newsletters, fact sheets and annual report;
• Coordinate printing and distribution of International Medical Corps publications and visibility materials;
• Assist in the updating and maintenance of the International Medical Corps website;
• Maintain photo library and video library and fulfill duplication needs;
• Coordinate supplies and marketing pieces; liaison with all vendors;
• Support International Medical Corps’ outreach efforts by helping with the creation of presentation materials and providing audiovisual support when necessary;
• Support the development and production of International Medical Corps visibility materials for both headquarters and field use by producing internally and coordinating with outside vendors;
• Update and maintain International Medical Corps’ video and photo archives;
• Participate in special media relations, public outreach and awareness initiatives;
• Contribute to the creation of a positive image and overall credibility of the organization, notably through the application of the organizations Code of Conduct, ethics, values and stand-point with regard to internal and external actors
• Actively promote PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) standards within International Medical Corps and amongst beneficiaries served by International Medical Corps

REQUIREMENTS:• Solid organizational and time management skills; ability to prioritize work, yet multitask in a fast paced work setting;
• Familiarity with print and web design fundamentals;
• Excellent writing and editing and proofreading skills;
• Knowledge of international affairs and humanitarian issues;
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills: ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and manage working relationships diplomatically;
• Ability to work effectively under deadline pressure, both independently and as part of a team in a multicultural and participatory environment;
• Excellent computer skills; knowledge of PhotoShop, Illustrator, InDesign, Final Cut Pro, Flash, PowerPoint a plus.
• Bachelor’s degree in Communications or related field.
