Urban VC Provides Monetary Grants to Promote Jobs
Chicago,
IL (BlackNews.com) - Caleb Brown Venture Capital and Consulting, a
Chicago-based, minority-owned VC, has announced a new community business
grant program. Caleb Brown will award up to $12,000 cash and more
than 6,000 consulting hours over the next year to 12 national business
enterprises. Prospective grantees are business owners who have been
open for less than three (3) years and have made a commitment to hiring
full-time, part-time, or intern staff over the next 12 months.
While
the national unemployment rate's climb to 9.4% (Bureau of Labor Statistics)
has been widely publicized, few media outlets have focused on the
black unemployment rate which current statistics show hovers at over
14% as of July 31, 2009. Caleb Brown has chosen to take a proactive
stance in our mission of job creation by investing both monetary and
intellectual capital into growing small businesses.
Caleb Brown has set the goal of helping to create 100 new community
jobs by the end of 2010. "We understand that this achievement
can only be reached by working with our clients and partners to create
strong revenue driven business models," stated Dennis Howell,
President and CEO of Caleb Brown Venture Capital. Mr. Howell adds,
"From day one our mission has been to find, promote, and nurture
young urban entrepreneurs with vision who understand that small business
creation is one of the key components required to rebuild local blocks,
neighborhoods, and communities by providing training and jobs to the
next generation."
