I would advise you don't move to Los Angeles. I was born here a lot of us blacks here don't really have no black pride we use to in the early years but as our mind got destroyed by gangs, drugs, and a lack of learning our history. Not to mention our numbers are not good here were about 7% of the whole population in los angeles. And if your starting your own business, remember the success rate black businesses usually succeed in citites with large black populations. Examples Atlanta Georgia, Memphis Tenn., it's a lot of black businesses in Jacksonville Florida, and Orlando FLorida, and Nashville Tenn. is turning into a black mecca. Here in Los Angeles the one good thing it's a lot of diversity but people don't interact with each other a lot. And it's a lot of things to do here, good clubs, good sites and places to go but the traffic is murder here. And the police seem to really harass us all the time you know with their racial profiling. Me I'm leaving L.A. but you know don't take my advice about the city check it out first before you move stay for a bout a month like I did in Atlanta which made up my mind to leave Los Angeles.

Jay,
i am from the South and Midwest. There is not as much of that sense of pride and community as I would like. The Black social scene is almost non-existent. it is pulled together by mixers, parties and "networking" venues that serve a secondary purose of pulling us together. What happens is we keep running into the same people over and over again. And in a town like this, thats kinda bad. There are no black upscale clubs in the town at all. The women are beautiful, but sometimes superficial, as this whole town is, and I guess that statement, itself. However, some are very approachable, and some are even down to earth(I haven't met many who can cook, though). They sometimes think guys from out of state are better, because these cats out here treat women bad. And half of them act like they are too good to date black women, anyway. So, if you got something going on, there are lots of sisters out here. Some got some "ol' nother stuff" going on altogether. And you won't be able to tell at first. And some are worth it all. But the key to it is finding them where they are.And in this town, that ain't so easy.
