At-Risk-Children

The
2010 Toy Drive will benefit the following non-profit
organizations:
Drew
Child Development Corporation (Drew CDC), a private,
non-profit organization located in South Central Los
Angeles, is dedicated to the education, early intervention
and the social well being of at-risk children, youth
and their families in the metropolitan Los Angeles,

Foundation for Second Chances (FFSC) is a community
based organization which utilizes hands-on education,
mentoring, health awareness and community service to
maximize the potential of youth. FFSC strives to help
underprivileged, abused, and abandoned youth overcome
the vicious cycle of poverty, poor education and violence
by supporting them academically, emotionally, and economically.
Through the combination of academic support and mentorship
in an environment of love, trust and respect, FFSC creates
second chances for disadvantaged youth to turn their
lives around.

CoachArt mentors chronically ill youth with arts and
athletics lessons. Our children are age 6-18 and by
providing these lessons, CoachArt helps alleviate the
pain and stress of frequent hospital visits and treatments.

Personal Involvement Center (PIC) provides services
to youth and families while improving the quality of
life for the South Los Angeles community it serves.
It is PIC's commitment to keep children safe by promoting
positive community interactions, excellent supportive
services and meaningful family activities.
2010
DROP OFF LOCATIONS AND EVENTS:
To
maximize the reach of potential donations, BlackNLA.com
is working with southern California businesses as
toy drop locations. Our goal is to provide toys
for over 1,500 disadvantaged and at risk children,
during this holiday season, says Ms. Calhoun.
Businesses that are participating as drop off locations
will listed in an e-blast that is sent out to the
community and on the website of BlackNLA.com.
The Toy Drive will launch November 8TH. Companies
currently signed up as drop off locations will start
collecting items starting Nov. 22nd.
We are looking for ADDITIONAL business participation,
if you would like to become a drop off location or
if your company would like to conduct an in-house
toy drive with your employees please e-mail us at

This toy drive is a grass roots effort that has been organized
by BlackNLA with the help of those in the community.
Launched
in March 2000, BlackNLA.com serves as a community
resource center for African Americans living, working and
traveling to the Los Angeles area. Visitors to the site
can get information that pertains to their interests and
lifestyles, share information and network. BlackNLA.com
provides an online directory of information on businesses,
restaurants, local organizations, healthcare professionals,

Body) is a community based organization whose mission is
to provide a wide-range of services to the community through
mentorship, educational programs, professional development
