In an effort to cater to the specific interests and lifestyles of the large professional African American population in the Los Angeles area, BlackNLA.com has been created as a resource for both their professional and personal lives. "BlackNLA.com should be deemed as significant to the culture of Black Angelinos as the Afro-centric attractions of Leimert Park, the California African American Museum, or Magic Johnson's Theatre," says Cherice Calhoun, BlackNLA.com creator and publisher.

Unlike many sites where decisions may be made in the boardroom, comments by users are welcome and invited in helping to shape the overall development of the site. Many of the best recommendations have come from site visitors. BlackNLA.com's web site includes a comprehensive listing of information, including business, social and community organizations. The Around Town section lists restaurants, churches, museums, clubs and radio stations. The site also includes a Travel section, information on local Politicians, a Business Directory and the most up-to-date happenings around town.

As the site is continually evolving and in an effort to bring together visitors of the site, plans are in the works for a discussion page, a full-fledged classified section, a senior living section and information on personal finances.
