Hello,
Thank you
to everyone that came out last week to our mixer. We look forward
to seeing many of you at both of our events this week. Thursday
Joint Mixer at Oasis with the Young Professionals
and the National Sales Network and Friday
Marcus Johnson live at the Los Angeles Athletic Club.
We will also be sponsoring Rebuilding
South LA
Moderated By: Councilman Bernard C. Parks on Wednesday at CAAM
Rather than
our normal newsletter I wanted to take the time and talk about
our 2nd Annual Toy Drive. The Toy Drive will be held from November
21st through December 9th, 2005. This year we will be supporting:
Drew
Child Development Corporation (Drew CDC), a private,
non-profit organization located in South Central Los Angeles,
is dedicated to the education, early intervention and the social
well being of at-risk children, youth and their families in
the metropolitan Los Angeles, area. http://www.drewcdc.org/
Girls
and Boys Town Emergency Shelters provide a safe place
for children to stay that meets their urgent needs. While a
safe and more-permanent solution is being sought for these kids
in crisis, they can find safe haven at Girls and Boys Town's
Emergency Shelter and Assessment Centers. They provide programs
for infants as well as 11 to17 year-old girls and boys in crisis
- runaways, homeless, court-placed or abused children. http://www.girlsandboystown.org/aboutus/locations/scal/index.asp
In order
to support these organizations we are going to need the help
and participation from the community.
- Company
Participation: Do you work at a company with 25 or more employees?
Most companies want to participate in a toy drive but don't
know where to start. Talk to your company office manager or
owner about placing a box in your lobby or lunchroom. We provide
the box, signs and we arrange for the pick up and distribution
of the toys. This is an easy way for your company to get involved
in the holiday season
- Drop-Off
Locations: Do you work at a location that is open to the public
or gets regular traffic from the outside public? Then your
company would make a great drop-off location for those looking
to donate toys. In the past we have had cleaners, banks, cellular
stores, beauty salons, law offices and other act a drop off
locations. Your company would be listed in our drop off location
so that those that live and work in the area can drop off
toys for the drive. We provide the box, signs and we arrange
for the pick up and distribution of the toys. This is a great
way to get exposure for your company and let the other BlackNLA
members know where you are located.
- Product
Donations: Does your company manufacturer clothing or goods
that can be donated to these organizations. These organizations
are providing shelter and services year round and have a great
need for more than just toys, including clothing, housing
supplies, school supplies and more.
- Cash
Gift: If you don't have the time to go shopping for a gift
BlackNLA will go shopping for you. Use one of our easy paypal
buttons to make a contribution and we will take care of the
rest. Or feel free to send a check to BlackNLA.com, 8391 Beverly
Blvd, #433, Los Angeles, CA 90048 (put Toy Dive in the notes
section)

links don't work click

- Drop-off/Delivery:
Do you have a large car or SUV and have a flexible schedule?
We are looking for people to assist us in dropping off and
picking up the boxes for the toy drive.
- Support
Toy Drive Events:
~ Joint Mixer at Oasis 11/17
~ Marcus Johnson at the Los Angeles Athletic Club 11/18
~ Joint Mixer with UCLA and USC at Level One 11/30
We have
been contacted by other organizations for help but that will
depend on the participation level we received from the community.
So please take the next day or two and see if you are working
in a location that can participate in our annual Toy Drive.
Last year
was a huge success and we are looking for this year to be twice
as successful. If you have any questions please feel free to
contact us at toydrive@blacknla.com or 323-954-8988.
Thank you,
Cherice Calhoun
